Frequently Asked Questions
While the vast majority of our members have passion for entrepreneurship development, not all are directly involved with any business. For this reason, APEX has created a number of different membership types. If you own a business or not and would like to get involved, contact us and let us know why you are interested in joining APEX. We do have an associate membership level that might meet your needs.
Many of the benefits that APEX members enjoy are on-line and can be accessed from anywhere – events and programs are only one part of APEX. APEX offers a rural membership to people who do not live near one of our active Chapters. Alternatively, you can find out how you can start a chapter in your area!
Yes. Many young entrepreneurs start their businesses on a part-time basis. Joining APEX will help to keep you juiced about your business while you’re juggling it and school or employment and improve the chances that it will turn into a full-time business.
If you are just thinking about starting a business we suggest you wait to join until your business is actually launched – even it is just a part-time thing at the beginning. However, you can come out to events as a guest if you want to learn and make connections while you’re mapping out your business plan.
Absolutely, you can join APEX as a student member. Once you graduate and start your business, you would upgrade your membership to the Core Member category. At that time, you would be allowed to attend all events, as well as join a committee or participate on the national board!
Yes. Entrepreneurs often find themselves between ventures. During those times it is important to stay in touch with your network and to keep learning. Other APEX members and our speakers may be able to help you derive the lessons from your last venture and/or help you develop your ideas for the next one.
No, but we can often point you to sources of financing and, depending on your needs and location, may be able to provide you with some key referrals to get you started on the quest.
Yes, absolutely! We highly encourage people visiting as guests so they can see for themselves the nature of the APEX programs. In fact, all entrepreneurs are allowed to attend up to 3 different events before making a decision on membership.
APEX is not formally associated with any other entreprenuer association. However, some APEX members have strong links to the other industry associations. In many ways APEX can be seen as a stepping stone to other industry associations. Technically, APEX is different than other entreprenuership associations as APEX does not restrict membership based on business revenues or other criteria.
